There are loads of events upcoming up as Toronto Brigantine approaches our 50th Anniversary. What great opportunities for old TBI friends to reconnect. Take Note of the events here.

  • Summer Program 2012 – Now taking reservations: Sailors Wanted. It is never too early to start planning your next summer vacation  http://www.torontobrigantine.org/summer-program/schedule-and-fees/
  • May/June and Sep/Oct – The brigantine’s are available for port events and charters, based on availability, although priority is given to youth sail training programming. Open sails will be announced for new or experienced sailors of all ages (min. age 13) Funds raised from port events, charters and open sails support the operations of the youth sail training programs.

TORONTO  2012 Doors Open Toronto Doors Open on Toronto’s Waterfront presented by Queen’s   Quay Terminal in association with The Waterfront BIA features 15 distinctive   ships and two historic buildings on Toronto’s waterfront during the 13th   Annual Doors Open Toronto celebration presented by the Toronto Star on May 26   and 27, 2012. The Toronto Harbour Commission building will be open to the   public and the Queen’s Quay Terminal will feature Toronto on the Water, a   FREE exhibit of archival photographs showcasing the history of Toronto’s   waterfront. Vessels from The Great Lakes Schooner Company , the Jubilee   Cruise Lines , Mariposa Cruises , Nautical Adventures’ Empire Sandy, and   Toronto Brigantine’s Pathfinder (on Saturday and Sunday) and Playfair (on Sunday) will be open to the public for FREE tours. TORONTO   Redpath Waterfront Festival Toronto   Pathfinder and Playfair will be at the event of course. Its going to be a   great party. Waterfront will come alive with Saltscapes of Nova Scotia and   New Brunswick offering the ultimate in east coast music, Cuisine, artists,   entertainment and more.

TORONTO   – both boats set sail for eastern Lake   Ontario tacking through Bay of Quinte towards Kingston (Course   1)

Jun 29

KINGSTON   both boats off for two week voyage   across Lake Ontario to mouth of Lake St Clair, from 1812 naval history and   the modern engineering of the Welland Canal (Course   2)

Jul 6 – 7

TORONTO  “1812 Squadron” convene in Toronto   for Conference of Captains meeting before setting sail  into Niagara on the Lake. Participating   Tall Ships include: Pathfinder and Playfair, St. Lawrence II, Fair JeanneLa   Revenante and Caledonian. TBI’s own Captain Neale is Vice Commodore of   the fleet.

Jul 13

NIAGARA   ON THE LAKE Navy Festival of 1812   (Niagara-on-the-Lake)   It is going to be a spectacular event with a large ground   battle in addition to the battle at sea with the 1812 Squadron including  vessels Pathfinder and Playfair, St. Lawrence II, Fair JeanneLa   Revenante and Caledonian.

Jul 14 –  16

Windsor   – the boats need to hustle to get to   Sarnia in time to pick up the next group of trainees

July 20

Sarnia    – both   boats off for one week across Lake Huron passing through  Fathom   Five National Marine Park (Course   3)

Jul 22

Goderich   – Boats will be making a quick stop for provisions in Goderich,   depending on wind and weather (one week too early for the Marine Heritage   Festival).  It will make a great photo   opportunity!

Jul 23

Goderich   – Marine Heritage FestivalTBI will have a booth at the Festival   and invite visitors to share their stories of Tall Ships sighting on the   Great LakesThe boats will miss the festival by one week.  [Currently   recruiting TBI volunteers for this event, if interested contact office]

Parry   Sound – both boats off for two weeks on   Georgian Bay from Baie Fine at north end and The Watchers at the south end (Course   4)

Collingwood    – one boat off for two week sail in Northern Channel (Course   5), the other for 1 week in 30,000 islands (Course   6)

Collingwood   – Annual TBI Presidents BBQ for TBI Officers

Owen   Sound – one boat continuing on for one week on Bruce Peninsula and   Lake Huron (Course   7)

BROCKVILLE/KINGSTON Brockville and Kingston will be part of   a Great Lakes United Tall Ship Challenge featuring visiting Tall Ships.

TORONTO   The Redpath Waterfront Festival TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE Great Lakes 2013. Toronto is the   launch port and host of an international fleet of Tall Ships. Some visiting   ships include: Blue Nose II,   Pride of Baltimore, Lord Nelson (War of 1812), Gotheborg   (Swedish Ship), Tarangini   (from India) among other. The Redpath Waterfront Festival will include   activities for families and kids of all ages and interests including Tall   Ship deck tours, live entertainment, immersion theatre, a Parade of Sail and   more! General Admission is Free. Ship boarding passes will go on sale in May   2013. See updates at TOwaterfrontfest.com.

COLLINGWOOD   TS Playfair will be   able to participate in the 125th Anniversary of the Georgian Bay Cup race in   Collingwood. The Georgian Bay Cup   Race was initiated in 1888 by Jim Playfair, the brother of Stuart   Playfair who was one of Toronto Brigantine’s founding contributors with Jim   Lorriman and others.

  1. Added 3 rotary club presentations and one Toronto library branch presentations to the Spring shoulder season schedule. If you know of groups that would like TBI to come and present to, let us know. We have volunteers available to make the presentations.
