2011 Summer Program Course 7 From Windsor to Toronto

COURSE #7: Homeward Bound (Windsor to Toronto)

Departing Windsor: Saturday, August 27th Arriving Toronto:  Friday, September 2nd Duration: 7 days

There are still a few berths available for 2011 Summer Program (particularly Course  6 and 7 – course 7 getting you back to Toronto just in time for the school year start!

So there is still a chance for some lucky teenagers to enjoy their tall ship adventure this summer.  Bursaries are available. The TBI Summer Program is eligible for Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Late August offers some of the best sailing weather of the season.  With the predominantly following winds head south into Lake Erie for the run eastward to the Welland Canal. After transiting the interesting and historic Welland Canal, cross Lake Ontario for Toronto, Ontario, home of the Brigantines.

It would seem that the slimy walls of the Welland Canal are vivid memory of former TBI Alumni that have taken this course – alumni like TBI Facebook Friends Bryan Dambrumenil and Caroline Lillico.  It is quite spectacular to be going through the canal with all the Lakers and other “big boats”.

After 7 days of the last few days of great sailing days of the student summer season, this gets trainees back home just in time for the start of the new school year. And it gives the Captains and lead hands time to organize for the few charters that we have scheduled before we head off for a port event in Montreal in mid September.

And if you aren’t able to sign up to sail this summer,, it is not too early to reserve your spot for 2012 Summer Program!
