Building Character through Adventure
Update from Toronto Brigantine, July 14, 2010
On July 13, 2010, the STV Pathfinder, with Captain Julian Schroer, First Officer Taeo Tsagkaris and the rest of the 10 crew and 18 traineers, passed through Windsor on her way down the Detroit River. Next destination – Bay City. They just finished participating in the Great Lakes United Tall Ships Challenge race from Cleveland to Pelee Passage. The Pathfinder didn’t win – in our division this time and hard sailing anyways with too little wind. As per the posted results, we were beat out by St Lawrence II, Pride of Baltimore II and Lynx.
From Windsor, the Pathfinder and crew are on their way to Bay City.
Check out this vide of Captain Schroer being interviewed during the stop in Windsor, by our friends at A Channel.
Taeo Tsagkaris was interviewed in an article in The Windsor Star by staff reporter Dalson Chen. You have to see the pictures that photography Scott Webster took of the trainees up high folding the sails. Great teamwork.
While we were in Windsor, we are also able to stop off at Sterling Fuels terminal to fill up our fuel tanks . Our program happens through the generous support from indviduals and businesses of the communities that we serve. Thank you to Sterling Fuels and our other Supporters.
If we miss you on the Lakes and you want to get more information about Toronto Brigantine’s youth sail training program, call us. We offer Winter Program, Summer Program, and during the shoulder season School Programs and Group Charters for the young at heart.
