Each summer the tall ships sail around the Great Lakes and Georgian Bay. In 2010, we have 8 courses offers. The transition points are at different spots around the lakes, but buses take the children back to and from Toronto. Click here for the complete summer schedule.
Course #5: Owen Sound to Tobermory through The North Channel, Aug 8 to Aug 15
In Course #5, this summer, let the winds take you to one of the greatest cruising grounds in the world. Sail from Owen Sound north to the eastern entrance of the North Channel.
After leaving the North Channel sail through the islands of Fathom Five National Park – and maybe see some of the ship wrecks there – on your way to scenic Tobermory at the top of the Bruce Peninsula, home of the Che-Cheemaun Ferry.
Here is a youtube video, Tall Ships in Tobermory, showing the brigantines Playfair and Pathfinder tied up at the entrance to Little Tub Harbour, Tobermory, Ontario, Canada. The car/passenger ferry Chi-Cheemaun is docked and is in the process of unloading some of the 140 vehicles that it can carry to Manitoulin Island.
Click here for a bunch of pictures from the different ports of calls from previous seasons. The pictures give a great idea of what adventures await the trainees this summer.
