Toronto Brigantine – The Vessels

Both of the ships are “brigantines”. At first, I wasn’t even sure that I had the right pronunciation of “brigantine”.

The first ship is the STV Pathfinder and was built in 1963.

STV stands for Sail Training Vessel.

The second ship is TS Playfair and was built in 1973.

TS stands for Training Ship.

Each of the tall ships has the capacity for 28 people, and during the summer TBI offers up to 7 summer camp sessions ranging from 6 to 13 days long (or one or two week camps). Each summer, the vessels sail around the Great Lakes.

Click here for a bunch of pictures from the different ports of calls featured in our Summer Sail program of previous seasons. The pictures give a great idea of what adventures await the trainees this summer.

Happy sailing.
